Sometimes people try to destroy you, precisely because they recognize your power - not because they don't see it, but because they see it and they don't want it to exist.

Meet Dr. FeLisa
FOUNDER | CEO
For 26 years, Dr. FeLisa Albert (Dr. FeLisa) has successfully integrated her passion for health and education into a professional career that has spanned the fields of healthcare, public health, and education as a racial equity consultant, Black health and wellness practitioner, educator, and mentor. She is an experienced consultant, facilitator, speaker, and panelist. Dr. Albert is an expert in critical consciousness and uses the Critical Consciousness Theory to focus on understanding race as a social, not a biological construct.
Using a public health lens, Dr. FeLisa considers where people live, learn, work, and play in order to understand the four levels in which racial inequities operate: personal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural coupled with how those factors impact one’s quality of life. She believes that her academic scholarship and being a leader in racial equity does not exclude her from how race impacts her life.

Dr. FeLisa is passionate and committed to equity, wellness, and healing for Black and Brown communities, and how those factors contribute to health and the success (or not) of their educational journeys, career paths and outcomes, and overall wellbeing. Because she fully embodies that she is her ancestors’ dream, she is empowered to lead and speak critically, unapologetically, and honestly through the perspective of a Black woman, while always being intentional and unwavering when it comes to matters of racial equity, Black women, and social impact.

That same passion is magnified in her leadership when it comes to Black males in the school system. A mother to a son, Dr. FeLisa has successfully fought and disrupted the systems and practices in educational institutions that continue to be rooted in systemic racism and discrimination. Her son is now a college graduate. Because of their journey, the duo provides Conscious Conversations sessions for schools and organizations to understand the process of preparing young people of color for the socio-emotional dynamics of college, the college application process, parent-child dynamics during this process, racial equity, social justice, and self-love.

Fortunately, such personal and professional experiences and skill-sets gives Dr. FeLisa a unique foundation and framework not only as a racial equity consultant but also in her current role as senior faculty and academic success coach for undergraduate students. Because she works for a college that serves mostly students of color who are considered non-traditional students, adult learners, first generation students, and international students, she has a heightened racial and cultural consciousness and is mindful about creating safe spaces to lead conversations on race relations and cultural differences while also mentoring faculty of color. Dr. FeLisa’s honest and straightforward perspectives on the current climate of race in this country were featured many times in college newsletters as well as online educational platforms and Podcasts.
INSPIRE | DISRUPT | BUILD
Dr. FeLisa’s approach is simple: examine the root causes, scrutinize the lies, lead with the truth, and solicit learning of both the hearts and minds in order for individuals to be change agents that move towards purpose, restorative practices, and healing.

Unquestionably, Dr. FeLisa believes her approach: INSPIRE, DISRUPT, and BUILD is required and she has taken on the responsibility to partner with like-minded people and continue to grow more safe spaces that support and empower Black communities, particularly Black women, through her redesigned company: WellEquity Partners.
